Our commitment to the environment
For Kiowatt, environmental protection means a significant reduction in CO2 emissions and primary energy consumption. This is achieved by maximising the use of process waste heat by connecting several heat consumers (pellet production, absorption chillers and district heating network) with complementary characteristic requirements in series.
Kiowatt thus pursues the optimal utilisation of the raw material wood, both waste wood and fresh wood, and contributes to meeting the country’s demand for green energy for the supply of electricity, heating and cooling.
In this way, we achieve an average annual CO2 reduction of around 74,000 tonnes.
The Luxembourg government supports the Kiowatt project with funds from the law on the promotion of environmental protection through the rational use of natural resources.
